I’m not Superwoman (maybe…)

I’ve been gone from my beloved blogging far too long. Just like other moms (and yes, dads), I have kid activities, school activities, work (even though I work from home) and house duties. On top of all that, I try to spend time with my kids. And busy or not, I also try to make sure my relationship with my wonderful husband stays strong. How do I fit it all in?

I was recently asked that question by an overwhelmed new mom. She’s trying hard to figure out how to fit in a full-time job, make sure she spends enough time with her hubby, and spend as much time as she can with her brand new baby boy. She swear she won’t have any more kids because she can’t figure out how she would have enough time for more than one. Her question, “how do you do it with 3 boys”? I just do it…and so does every other mom. We just do it.

The funny thing is, I don’t remember what it was like to have too much time on my hands. That’s how I envision my life before kids…”too much time, not enough to do”. I’m sure I didn’t picture it that way back then. I’m sure I felt like I was really busy, and too much to do. Boy was I wrong. To be able to watch a TV show or movie all the way through without someone asking for more popcorn. To be able to relax and read a book before 11PM. To be able to plan my day without concerns for getting a babysitter, or making sure the restaurant we’re going to is kid friendly. And while it all seems a bit overwhelming at times, I just do it and love “almost” every minute of it. And there’s one thing that I know FOR SURE, I would never have it any other way!

I would like to extend my own mom a GREAT BIG thank you for everything she has ever done for me and my sisters. The sacrifices that she made for us when we were growing up will never be forgotten, and are greatly appreciated, especially now that I know how much she gave up for us as I raise my own children. I also want to thank my mother-in-law for treating me like one of her own children, and helping us whenever she can.

Moms are fantastic creatures. I don’t know how we do all we do, but the next time someone tells me I must be Superwoman, I’ll just say “thank you”!

What a great post! I get asked that a lot too…how do you do it? I also get a lot of mom’s of 1 or 2 telling me I’m crazy for wanting more than the 4 I already have! But really, I can’t tell you how I do it. I just do it. That just sums it up perfectly! I try, and hope I succeed, to show Mom how grateful I am for all she’s done for us, and continues to do. But, I’d like to extend that gratitude to both of my wonderful sisters for being such good moms, not only to your own kids, but showing my kids that same love and attention. I love knowing that my kids, and all of the cousins, have not only their own parents, but 2 other sets of parents that love them as much as their own children. 🙂 Love you sis (both of you, lol)!!!

I love you too! And I feel exactly the same way about the two of you. And we can’t forget and Mar 🙂 It’s great to know that no matter what happens in our family and extended family, we always have each other!
